Indian market at Bottom!!!
13000 and going further down... well this is very dialogue which you can hear on any business TV channel in India.
I see this a good buying opportunity and create portfolio.
As Warren Buffet says- you should get greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy

IPOs - All gone bust
My view has been not to bet on IPO as gamble. IPO were selling hot cakes just because they were shorcut to double money. Well unfortunately, those who are sharp make money and exit but layman in general gets greedy to keep stock making more money.
Result- Sensex came down and IPO dreams got busted. Today most of IPO are trading at 40-50% discounted price.
Stocks are not gamble, they are be played with calculated risks for making all profits.
Good equity mutual funds in India
iPhone in India....$299!!!
AT&T in US is offering huge subsidy since they match up revenues from minutes, whereas in India minutes are already at al time low 2-3 cents/minute. With this, expected price for iPhone is said to be around 20K.
Lets wait and see!!!
Dubai - New Singapore in Making??
Dubai really has shortage of taxis. On an average you might end up waiting for an hour during peak hours to find a taxi. I very well remember that day when I walked around 2-3kms for close to 90minutes looking for a single taxi in Bur Dubai at 9am. Result- I ended up late for a meeting. Singapore on other hand has real efficient taxi services, with all GPS systems. I rarely faced any problems with Taxi services during my stay in Sgpr.

What is the next turnmoil in world economy- Water???
It has been crude($140/barrel).... it will continue... ruled out
Water- Maybe yes.... With depleting water tables and high pollution of natural resources, very soon water will be the reason for next world crisis.
Its high time we as an individual step forward and ensure that atleast each one of will not waste water. Even with simple steps, we can save lot amount of water in our daily use

Nano Effect
Reason- Post Nano , all major car makers have announced investment in sub $3000 cars including likes of Nissan, GM and even Merc.
Indian govt has already increases excise duty on cars above 1500cc.
India fast becoming auto-component sourcing hub
Indian design center buzzing with increased headcount and global majors investing heavily in R&D centres in India
Tata is the only auto company in the world to have complete end-to-end product..right from Nano to JLR/LC
Global Environment Awareness
Latest is China- They have decided to control number of mountaineers climbing on Mt Everest every year. With 1000s of climber taking on the peak, Mt Everest is witnessing pollution which is leading to fast melting of glacier. China now will be issuing permits to limited climbers every year.
Lehman Brothers- Next Bear Stearns?
Well , Lehman bet on mortgage business has taken them into bad debt and now they are next bear stearns in making. Fed however is trying best to avoid this situation since that would take away all the trust from i-bank world.
Although, Lehman is smallest of top10 i-banks, its fallout could further worsen the global economy through ripple effects

Global Inflation riding on the bull now
China, India are feeling most pressure from it and fighting to cool it down from double digit figure to sub 5% levels. With rising crude prices and OPEC not in mood to increase demand, I guess these two emerging markets will have to struggle for some more time with Inflation numbers.
Western markets too are feeling the pinch now, people in west are reducing their long drives and expenditures.
Interesting thing however is that dreaded word "Recession" is no more heard. There is still sense of optimism in global market of things recovering back in medium term and everything will be alright.
I feel too there are chances of the above facts. OPEC meeting last sunday resulted in divided views by members which means crude is soon going to see correction in prices. Saudi and Kuwait are pro-demand increase so as to fill the demand-supply gap.

Blanket ban on shopping plastic bag in China
World Environment Day should give some thought to Indian govt to think about this option in India too. I would say we should promote jute made bags since they are enviromently friendly and also promote employment oppys.

Telcos growing across boundaries
Where will be next billion subscribers coming from?
As an execution step towards the answer, telcos are all set with cross boundaries growth.
AT&T, one of the early entrant in Indian market made a decent profit of around $250mn after selling its stake in Idea back in early millenium. Thats a different story that current value of same stake is more than $2billion.
AT&T is standing right there waiting for its chance to enter Indian market again. Phenomenon of strong Indian telecom story is definately attracting major player across geography.
The reason is beyond just putting its dot in emerging market map. It is about getting balance sheet strong by matching up slow growth in current geography with fast emerging market for players in saturated market. For emerging market player, it is more to quench their thirst for larger play and ambitious plans.
With Middle east too witnessing fast growth in telecom sector after recent liberisation by the government, players in those region have realised the importance of moving out from reginal shell and spread its business in similar markets.
Etisilat recently confirmed its plan to enter Indian market through an Indian player, it is already in talks with Spice Communications, Datacom to name a few.
Also, there has been lot of unseen synergy which players like MTN and Reliance are working on, after Bharti opted out of race for MTN.
Similarly, players in middle east are actively working on buying stake in Indian wireless players and new greenfield players. This reaction from Middle east players came into picture after Vodafone's strategic acquisition of Hutch India to get emerging market as part of its growth plan. Major players like MTN, Qatar Telecom , Etisilat are all eyeing pie in Indian market since their hoem market will soon start witnessing lot of comeptition from new players. It becomes very important to open international strategy to make sure revenue dependency is not region focused.
Interest developed by middle east players in India and vice versa has opened one more dimension of growing business attractions between middle east and India for telecom landscape. This is an exciting step since it was not predicted or talked about option.
Major telco like Bharti and Reliance have been trying continously to enter Middle east market. They have been trying by bidding for licences but in vain. So now, they see ruote through mergers and acquisition as the best way to spread their expansion plans.
With western players actively eyeing Indian market, middle east players working aggresively to move out from regional shell and Indian players working on their global expansion plans, Telecom landscape is clearly geting more eventful and exciting.
Oil..Oil...Oil.. That is latest news in every circle
Today crude is trading at $130 and see no sign of retreat to lower number. OPEC still claims that they see no problem in supply-demand gap, whereas countires across globe are witnessing huge oil crisis. Most effected are ofcourse emerging nations like India and China. Commodity is highly dependant on oil prices since majority of tranportations means are based on oil and slight increase in oil results in a direct propotionate hit on inflation numbers.
Analyst say that they see some corrective measures coming into picture by year end, and that crude should be down to $80/barrell price.
Now, what has to be seen if how economies are going to take the balanced approach to minimise the impact of crude hit

Next rulers in Corporate world!!!
or
Second- innovative corporate strategy which leads the organisation with people along with it and use employees strength areas as the tool.
Employees and HR is the next big area which can play as game maker or game broker in corporate strategy world. As well and done on boardroom presentations can go to dumps if right execution of keeping employees motivated is not done.
Past 2 decade might have seen some companies flourishing only through corporate strategy but coming two decade will only favour those organisations which will move priority to make their employees rich and happy only as a logical step to make their shareholders happy.

Solution Accelerator- New face of service delivery model for telcos
Fast changing Telecom world has resulted in new challenges for telcos worldwide. With shirking business boundaries and growing customer expectations, telcos need to not only adopt to new scenario but also keep their customers and shareholders happy. The challenge is finally ending up with business systems of telcos to match the growth.
Solution accelerator is the saviour here for telcos. As Forrester defines it Solution Accelerators is "Pre-developed software that is used by the IT services firm to automate a particular business process or aspect of product development where 30% to 70% of the code can be reused across clients." (Source: Forrester)
Previously, it was simple integration of products which was considered to the answers for telcos problem. But it has been realised that besides just simple integration, business processes have major play in the whole game.To establish faster RoI and increase satisfaction, setting up right business processes is equally important along with right integration of product.
Patni recently launched one such and first marketready offering for communications service providers to set up core customer- and partner-facing business processes under one consolidated operational model.
Patni atoms™ process-centric platform is designed for providers needing to provision new converged services. In the case of a start-up operator in high growth markets, atoms™ enables the licensing of the systems required to ramp up service delivery in a short period of time. The Patni atoms™ platform also accelerates the business transformation program for existing operators and provides a blueprint for future operating models. As providers start using Patni atoms™, the whole community of userscan share in the resulting enhanced packaged solution. Patni recently acquired intellectual property from Carphone Warehouse that formed the basis of atoms™.
Patni atoms is already running live with their customer which has also quoted about its enhanced capablilities.
“It’s critical for us to respond rapidly in the entrepreneurial business we are in and the solution we have co-created has enabled us to complete the first phase of our planned roll out at Carphone Warehouse. As the co-creators of Patni atoms™ we have been delighted to have played our part in what is undoubtedly a quantum step forwards in the evolution of telecoms industry operations,” said Simon Post, Chief Technology Officer of Carphone Warehouse. “The solution will be instrumental in allowing us to manage rapid growth in both business scope and scale whilst underpinning our successful business transformation.”
With telcos and media companies expecting to save 15-18% of overall project costs and and expecting to change sourcing scenario from typical offshore advantage game from ‘Time & material’ to ‘Value Pricing’, this space is definately heating up for lots of action.

MVNOs in India
This is what Indian govt is saying as of now for its second fastest telecom market in the world.
Question is however the feasibility and timing of MVNO entry in Indian market. With spectrum and new licenses already been given to so many player to create competition , MVNO entry will surely deplete margins and might have negative impact.
MVNOs are typically opened in market where market is close to saturation and carrier want to seek new avenues of revenue. Whereas in India, teledensity is still around 24%.
Entry of MVNO will see price decline and as well negative competition , much more churn and might not be positive for Indian markets as of now.
Time for Indian govt to think again
China Inflation at 8.7%
This shows that in globalised world, however secluded a country remains cannot be left alone from global economic signs like slowdown or growth.
China too has been impacted by slowdown in western world and has seen 15-20% correction their markets too. Time to see how China copes with its image to maintain its country business in coocon environment policy.
Indian Budget 2008
India is gearing up for next election for biggest democracy. On one hand where global market is going through sub-prime crisis and talking themselves into recession, India still confident of its growing economy along with dfferent challenges.
Indian bidget by PC has been a right balance on tight rope. On one hand current congress government is trying to lure voter for next election by populist budget, on the other hand it has to be seen that India keep growing with its current rate.
Budget 2008 is very much for Aam aadmi, with tax slabs being changed showing straight saving of 50K for average person. Auto industry said cheers with PC announcing subsidy for small car. I am sure Nano effect is already showing its 'side effects'
The question now is whether the plans announced will show positive signs on Indian economy.

IPO mania- Is this the end of the road....
Recent example $3bn IPO from big industry house which attracted $100bn of application, only thing is that is opened and closed at 30% discount. I think issue was too aggresively priced without even a single project going live. This can be linked to complacency getting developed in Indian markets. Assumptions made are optimistic appraoach on earning 100% return on every rupee invested. Last week too, Emaar, Builder of famous Al- Burj, World tallest tower of the world failed to attract investors for IPO which led to company withdrawing its IPO, same with another company Wockhardt. SO I think people should expect the blame that they thought of such IPO with so much of hype and when things went bad, thewy blame markets, company etc etc. People, please accept that dreams are going irrational now.
Today India talks about high growth, development. Recently started New Delhi- Gurgaon expressway and woes that is being witnessing daily reflect that we still are far away from infra experts. New international bangalore airport still doesnt have road connectivity, and we talk about development. I think infra story still need a revisit here to be so optimistic about this grwoth sector.
Market correction is giving India its real valuation, which means Indian market were overheated and I am surely positive that this correction was for good future of India

Stock Market Crash- What Next??
Indian Sensex fell by more than 2000 points along with other Asian markets which corrected by 6-10%.
Reason- Growing speculation of US recession. There has been concerns growing about US recession, which will also impact global economy. Emerging economies like Taiwan and China are highly dependent on US exports, which range upto 60% of GDP for taiwan.
For Japan, it is concern on growth on internal japanese economy which got fuelled up by US factor.
US Fed has taken immediate emergency step by rate cut of 0.75% highest ever since 1984. US want to influx confidence in Global market to delete concerns of US economy and recession.
Indian market howevver saw lot of negative action. $160bn gone in 4 hours. In India, market had touched 21000, wherein lot of speculation has taken in place. Power stocks which had een great bull run were deeply hurt which corrected upto 70% in stocks.
Correction might be seen as good opportunity for buying stocks but here are few advice for you:
- Let the market stabilise, retail investors stay away and dont jump in to average in falling market

Amp'd goes bankcrupt
As per media reports, Amp'd could not keep up with its IT systems for its growing customer base and things went bad from operational point of view.
I came to know Accenture was their systems integrator, which means MNC which is known for its "tiger" could not help a small player to keep up with IT systems.???
I believe Indian vendors like Patni, Infosys etc are doing great job as partner with growing companies in US and Europe specially for convergent service providers.
I believe it is not just about making your employee "Tigers" but also far more important making your customers as "Tiger", "Lion" too..

But recently it was Gates AND Jobs together at D5,All things digital.. making historic appearance together.
It was interesing conversion as I read in Wall Street Journol and each other even appreciated other point of view.. Jobs acknowledged the fact that Gates did good job to make PC for masses with windows.
Gates too was supportive of fact that Jobs is real creative person and his ideas are great.

Hongkong Experience- A funny one
I dont know even you know, but current HKG aiport is new airport built recently after its old airport develop safety concerns being in middle of the city.Since HKG has space crunch , authorities actually filled up portion of sea linked to the land and made this modern airport over it including the runway. Amazing I must say!!
But yeh!! someone traveling from CHangi to HKG will surely see lack of experience in terms of shopping etc at HKG airport.
Singapore experience- after 3 years again
Had a connecting from singapore so enjoyed my time at Changi airport, which once again has won best aiport award many times and it truly deserves it.Spend some time at their ineresting internet kiosks and then some shopping at attractive duty-free shops. And how can such an interesting trip be completed without somethng interesting. So, I did made some blunder which ofcourse I cant mention here, but was lucky to get over it.
Even got a complimentary singapore trip for 2 hours from SIA,which made me remembered my time which I had in Singapore some 3 years back। Truly a global city.

Every actor besides Milind has really done wonderful acting. Comedy timings in movie is perfect.

Experience- Fire in the next building
Then sunday formula 1 race, though I had to entertain a friend of mine so could not catch up with it till chequered flag.It was just an hour after I came back home at 11pm,I heard screams from outside. When I peeped out from window it was actually a real movie drama.Neighbouring building was on fire and seconds after I heard explosion of cylinder. Rushed outside and called 101 and then 100 for bire brigade. I was really surprised to connect with them in just one ring. After 1 hour of firefighting ,people got the fire off and then like typical hindi movie fire brigade came( after 1 hour) ringing bells. They can't change ;)
Anyways, luckily no casuality happened.
Good nite!!

Money transfer as next killer application

This is expected to be next killer application for telcos and surely going to give Money transfer banks sleepless nights.Currently, services like Western Union charges $24 for tranfering $100 thats roughly 1/4th the amount, but using mobile transfer service like Vodafone's MPESA, it will be merely $8 and that is big difference.
M-PESA is a pilot project run by Vodafone. On similar lines, Bharti, cellular operator in India too have launched M-Wallet services and now mChek
As per figures, roughly $260 bn is transferred from migrant workers back home globally.

Formula1 2007 season began today

Followed by McLaren's Alonso and Hamilton.... Alonso truly is an expert driver who could thrust McLaren engine... Merc has best tech in terms of V6 engines, but team Mc needs to work little more to get Alonso on pole position in coming sessions
Most interesting event was 360 degree turn which Renault's driver performed ;) and he managed to zoom back too ...funny indeed
Vodafone replced by ING as main sponsors and Bridgestone boards by V-Power.Also was seen Kingsisher on Toyota car.
I wonder how is ING taking its sponsorship for F1.!!!I am not able to corelate a bank trying to map with a segment which signifies speed.
Maybe you can help me a bit on this!!

Chinese govt all set to check population
Yesterday on BBC ( http://www.bbcworld.com I watched this documentary on how China is keeping check on its growing population and at the same time taking care of citizens.
The documentary covered one aspect featuring incentives given by chinese govt to people who have girl child. In China, it is law to have only one child. People who go for second child are not given any incentives. On other hand, people who get girl as their first child are allowed to go in for second child. The reason being most of China is base on agricilutre and rural areas, where parents support in their old age from their son.Govt funds education of girl chidl till she grows up to look after her parents.
The second aspect showed how young people are moving towards big cities like Beijing to work and earn more money. They covered one family whose boy has moved to Beijing to work as labour and earn $4 a day from which he saves money and send it back to its family in village.
With Olympics due in 2008, China is moving fast with its infrastructure and development.
China surely catching up fast with global economy... India any lessonss??
Stock Market turbulence across globe

With Chinese market witnessing selling, and a drop of 8% the effect was reflected across asian markets including Japan, Thailand, India, Singapore moving further to Dow Jones.
Dow Jones dropped by percentage which is lowest after 9/11. However, the stocks seems to be moving up positive now
As about Indian market, Sensex need to build more fundamental growth than just money inflow one. Most of Indian stock are measured by multiple factor wherein stocks should be measured by growth weight. The moment there is change in sensex, its fall as in bottomless pit like it happened on 23rd May,2006.
India quikly needs to keep stringent check on inflation and Real estate price.Too much money coming as FII, can lead to Bubble in real estate market.
Key sectors to gain money in stocks would be Infrastructure, IT and Telecom
West -- Outsourcing is globalisation;Accept it
Budget 2007 - Nothing new in the store
Finance Minister P.Chidambaram focussed this budget for agriculture and not for industry or middle class. THough there has been allocations done for agriculture to grow the sector, there are no such good news for salaried class.
Tax slabs remains same, exemption limit increased by 10k but then education cess increased to 3% and service tax to 20%. Now even ESOP will be taxed under FBT( though I am not getting them ;) )
Taxman!! you really have tough time ahead, geting industry to support ;)

Drive on Jaipur-Delhi Highway :)

Driving is a lovely experience specially when you get a chance to drive on routes like Pune-Mumbai , Delhi-Jaipur.
My latest one is from Delhi to Jaipur, which is around 250kms and I covered it from door- to -door in 5 hours.
Initial stretch till Gurgaon was little bad because of construction of expressway but once we crossed Manesar, it was time to zoom accelerator.
And soon, I was driving my machine at 120-140kmhr and then it was no looking back.
This made me remember my pune-mumbai drive which I went with my friend. Only difference is pune expressway is gaurded on whole stretch so one can speed throughtout.
Jaipur highway is little different since it has villages which makes driver to be active throughout.
Anyways, it was fun driving to and fro!!
Commerce Ministry to Brand Handicrafts of India

I was surprised and delighted to hear new campaign of India's commerce minister Kamal Nath.
Delighted because Commerce Ministry has started campaign to Brand Indian Handicrafts in International Market. Surpirsed!!! because after long time I heard sensible approach from politicians( Last time i was happy when Rajiv Gandhi talked about Computers)
The approach here will be to form a co-operative which will participate in various events and represent Indian handicrafts and promote them.
I think they will be coming out with a name for the campaign though I am not aware of it as of now.
Above pic are of Jaipur Sarees, 'Bhandhia' :)
Changing faces of the Pink City- Jaipur

And above is changing new face of Jaipur, Infrastructure has improved a lot since I last visited Jaipur some 6 years back. It is new destination for next generation companies in IT, Finance. Infy, Genpact all lining to open their centres there.
Nice place with culture as its heritage which can be seen all around.

Incredible India

Vodafone wins Hutch India

Though this deal of vodafone will be through partnership with Ruias of Essar, 67% stake will be controlled by Voda.
Vodafone needs to also disinvest their strategic 10% stake in Bharti as per regulation.
Voda interest in telecom can into focus when they bought stake in Bharti , with Singtel which is also having a strategic stake.
Nest step on closing the acquisition will be regulatory issues, govt clearance.Voda had a close door meeting with top official from Govt of India to discuss FDI route last month.
The biggest challenge, will be starting after the acquisition. Indian market is price sensitive market unlike Europe and what needs to be watched is how Vodafone is going to put its Red Round logo strap in neck of Indian Hutch Pug!!!!!
Peschardt's People

I like the ideas and thoughts of Shobha since they are different, I have also earlier mentioned on my blog about her interesting book 'Spouse' launched in August 2005
On her views on India as emerging market, she mentioned India has already emerged and that
its playing a far bigger role in world economy now.I really appreciate the way she said her points to british anchor.

Indian Steel- Making a mark again
This time it is Tata's who have acquired Brasilian steel maker Corus only to become 5th largest steel maker in the world.
The bidding which went through 9 rounds saw Tatas taking off Corus from CSN at 608 pence per share. Analyst like Stan Chart have real positive view for Tatas and same is there from other analyst firms too.
The only thing is to watch for the global demand for commodities. The sudden down trends in that can spoil Tatas party. China market has huge demand due to growing economy and has major consumption.
This deal however is pursued by Tata to tap growing european market.
World Economic Forum@Davos 2007
Davos has raised some serious questions on industrialisation and global warming. There has been a change in climate across globe and this is serious concerns.Though developed countries might blame it all to Asia because of the 'growth' but its not hidden that developed countries like US too are contributing big to global warming.
Truly, business has moved juct beyond economics and marketing. It is about culture, knowledge, unrest, infrastruture, talent, policies and most important the trends.
But yeh!! Davos surely has seen good asian presence including Indian IT company Infosys's CEO Nandan Nilekani also sharing his views as speaker.

Indian companies to sponsor F1 team now :)
After Tata promoted Narain for driver, its none other than Kingfisher group owned by Vijay Mallya.
Kingfisher is sponsoring Toyoto team for F1 2007 for its kingfishers airlines brand.
This was announced and displayed at recently Toyota F1 launch in Germany.
Indian companies are all set to leave their mark everywhere :)
Retail chain/business moving to a new era
Entering a new business maybe still easy for corporate with money and muscles, but I think its takes a vision to built such a business from scratch.
I have read books which talks about strategy and features of growing company and I am happy
to see those models working at company like Future group.
Biyani has surely tried to blend glocal touch with his thoughts. He hired executive from Goldman Sachs for Strategy and Business, working big time on supply chain, developing a volume based business which surely has chances to click more in India.
Although, I havent purchased anything besides a tie at Pantaloons but its surely keep updated by latest fashion and daily trends.I have realised this recently so surely Pantaloons will be worth trying next time for economical and good shopping.
With talks of FDI for retail moving towards 74%, I know Biyani group will be one which is going to be hit hardest and this shows clearly from his articles and interviews.
Recently, N R Murthy of Infosys shared views saying retail should be opened up.And my views here is that maybe its little early to open FDI In retail. The very emotional reason to support is that Indian group should be given some lead in the race to atleast grow and come to a platform to handle competition and form perfect competition in the market which are going to then benefit customers.Secondly, MNCs and retail biggies if allowed so early in market will lead to resource crunch thus moving costs up and also it will create a wave of mergers and acquisition too early in the market.
Govt should first alllow Indian players like Reliance, Future group, Bharti, etc to set their operations and create awareness for retail market. This will also get more revenue for govt when foreign players will enter market.
Retail surely in next market to cheers after Telecom in India.
Retail going online-FutureBazaar
As far this futurebazaar goes, it is online retail shop. Looks like click and pay and home delivery.I still remember during my B-School days, when Me and my friend actually had discussion on such a online model in retail. And I even mentioned the idea on my blog in August 2005.
Book Review!! Whoever Makes the Most Mistakes Wins
Well, like most of us I also had the same thought, until I came across this interesting book written by Richard Farson and Ralph Keyes.Authors here, have pen down a different approach and thinking as to how mistakes eventually take us more closer to success rather than taking us away from it.
The book with introduction of terms success and failure as defined by most of us, which shows that overcoming a failure is defined as success by most of us. Given a chance to quote one event of success in anybody's life, most of us would narrate an example how we came across a challenge and overcame it. Still, we always fear failures which gets us success eventually.
The next part explains how one normally fails towards success. Taking example from once daily life it can be easily seen that everyone has passed through troughs and crests of success and then failure. So, its not that success can be a repetitive phenomenon instead it is driven more from failures and what we learn from them. Authors have taken ample examples from corporate and individual world to explain that most of the innovation and discovery are results of failures. For example, widely used 'Post-It' was a result of failure of an experiment, which 3M later realized. Examples are mentioned in books of IBM, Xerox, Abrahim Lincoln and many others which shows that it is failures that is most important path to success.
Book later provides a very different approach to definition of word 'Success' which I think will make everyone sit and analyze that what we curse today by saying 'Failure' is actually a path to victory in disguise.
Although the book is of small size and just 120 pager, but every page is filled with learning and execution.I will definitely recommend this book as worth sparing some time, which not only will add a new dimension towards our approach to success but will also adopt a more optimistic approach towards failures

Stress and Relax- Can we do it??
We as human being were originally having a very different lifestyle and then we observe one word in everybody life, Stress!!!
There is anxiety, health problems, hurriness, etc which most of us are facing. These are very well symtoms of stress.
Why did people in history doesnt had stress then?? or did they?
Well I wil say, they did but less since they had a balanced way of living. They had patience, balanced good diet, proper way of breating, etc.
Just look at a small baby, he enjoys life like anything..why??
Because he does things with patience, he enjoys everything he does.. playing, eating ,etc.
So one thing we should do is enjoy our present, do simple little exercise to feel fresh air and gain good diet
Sensex at 14000

Experience with Indigo
Well, I really don't have anything special to write about Indigo.
I found it like yet another Low cost carrier. The only thing I will say that the aircraft are good.
As for service, they dont offer you anything except water and their seats are little cramp.
Check In and Handling is fine, in case you get a deal on ticket price, I think its worth going in for.
Overall, I will rate Indigo service as 6/10.
Nice Experience with Spicejet
Fortunately on my travel day,sky remained clear with lots of sunshine so my flight was schduled right time. Confirmed with them and was happy to know that my flight was right time.
Spicejet Counter was crowded, but I would blame Airport authority for bad infrastructure. This lovely lady on the counter was handling the check -in quite smoothly so no Regrets ;)
This terminal of Spicejet is shared with Air-Deccan, so that made me stand in long queue for security check.
Coming to the point, my boarding was handled well and I felt cozy in confy seats of this A320 aircraft.I think spicejet has most lovely air-hostess of all low cost airlines. :)
The best part which I like while traveling with Spicejet is the cookies which they serve.I would say it has weightage of 5% for me choosing Spicejet.I can buy them from market , but it has own fun in Spicejet aircraft.
I even inquired from one of hostess Megha, where do they order it from.?The answer was Taj with a sweet smile, and "Would you like to have more of those?"She asked me about my seat number and she got me some of those wrapped nicely in napkins :)
Flight was confortable and got my luggage in time too at airport.
Overall, I will rate Spicjet 8/10 among the airlines.

86400- The connecting link between Money and Time
Patni's 'PACE' trainer Vaishnavi gave us a small assignment, If you have INR 86400,what
would you do with it?
Well, my answer too oriented towards investment, wherein my formula comprised of investing 40K in mutual funds,20K in stocks and remaining in Fixed deposit or maybe spend it.Most of participants shared same investment story, wherein they utilised all the given amount.
But in real life, given the same precious amount in form of time, how many of us actually invest it in right way??? I bet not many..
In a given day, we have 24 x 60 x 60 = 86400 seconds.
So, if we can plan these preciuos units in right and planned way depending on our long term and short terms needs, most of our problem will be solved. If we can design ,say we are going to invest X amount of 'Time' in Y activity and than A amount in B activity, The result we will get will be great.
This was a real good learning which I got today and I will try my best to implement in day -to-day life from now on.
Time management is key to ones growth, and with pressure on work-life balance these little small tricks can make wonders
Patni PACE is oriented towards employee development wherein Patni tries to grow soft skills of Patnites and move each one of them towards excellence.
This was third such program which I attended, the other being on Business Communications and Decision Making.

India is a Medical Outsourcing Destination - Tom Peters
Medical Toursim off late has been catching up fast in India with top hospitals like Apollo ,Fortis etc, partnering with Tourism co-ordinator and providing world class treatment clubbed with tour to Incredible India.
And with management guru and thinkrs like Tom Peters writing about it on his blog, this surely is something which can be labeled an upcoming trend. As Tom mentions, a poor lady from America who is not insured and cannot afford to get herself treated in US flies in to India and get herself world-class luxurious treatment at just 1/3rd the price.Indian doctors are renowed community in US so this can be surely lableled as safe
Increasing insurance cost in west and long waiting list for treatment at government hospitals in coutries like UK and US are factor which will be catalyst for Medical Outsourcing .Also, poor health conditions in countires like Africa,Middle east and even south east asia, India surely going to become a Medical Hub.This might see the same trend in future what IT witnessed in '90s
Looks like the word 'Bangalored' gonna see more addition to its meaning
Reliance launches its First Retail Store@ Hyderabad
Indian retail sector is currently more than 90% under unorganised area and this shows the immense scope for growth. With increasing living style and spending power of Indians,Retail plans in India surely will see an exponential growth.
Reliance has laid huge plan for their retail biz and may even plan an IPO for that. They are starting with around 15 stores in Hyderabad from Nov3 and has plans to open around 5500 stores all across India. What makes Reliance strategy different from their competitors is that they are focussing at mid tier cities from the very beginning.Indian metor cities has already been witnessing mall/retail mania since past 2-3 years and Reliance just might take a different step seeing this.
I think going Reliance way makes sense.Since Tier 2-3 cities are virgin territories and if business house with muscle power like Reliance foray there first, they surely will cash 'First Movers Advantage'.
For their grand plan, Reliance has attracted leading names in this industry to join them, like Walmart India head, Pantaloons CEO with many other top people from big brands.
Reliance has previously made a huge change in telecom landscape when they launched Reliance Infocomm and now with their retial plans, I am sure Retail landscape in India and also the rules of the game.
The power of 9
9 is the only number when multipied by any number will give a number whose summation of digits also gives number 9
Ex: 9 X 3 = 27 ; 2 + 7 = 9 9 X 7 = 63 ; 6 + 3 = 9
Strange no!!
China keeping its fact right for IT- India Beware
Though we might be happy with Feel-Good factor with IT in India and IT and India almost pronounced simultaneosly, the number games are changing fast.
China has very well accepted that they are far behind India when it comes to software, but they know they are still leading in hardware by huge leap. Now,they have started executing their plans for training workforce in IT and English and as per Chinese Industry Association , they are really working fast.
Not only in terms of Education and training but also Infrastructure. It is a well known fact that China has by far better Infrastructure ,be it SEZs, Airports,Tech Parks or well planned cities.
Whereas, India still is lazying around and partying with success in IT. Infrastructure is deterioting day by day, specially at IT capital Bangalore. Signs of skill shortage has started showing signs with attritions touching 20% in many companies.
And its sad to see Govt focussing in stupid issues like reservations against improving education standards in schools and colleges.Although, engineering colleges are opening at a fast pace but how many of them actually give even average enginnering skills to students, I would say max 25-30%.
One good strategy which IT companies in India has started is expanding operations in China. We have TCS,Patni,Infosys,Satyam all opening shops in China. This will help these companies become truly global and at the same time cash on available talent pool and obviously huge Chinese market.
The need of the hour is to bridge the gap between industry and colleges. There is no point IT companies just crying about talent. It is time that industry come forward and partners with Enginneriung colleges in near by areas of cities to actually train students about what is expected from them. The benefit of such a program will be ,first availability of trained talent as per expectation right from campus thus saving huge recruitment cost and secondly increasing brand awareness of their company among the talent. We have few IT companies like Patni,Infosys and Satyam who have already started with such a model.Infosys has a large world class training centre, where they train new recruits depending on projects whereas Satyam and Patni has started tieing up with colleges to train students
I think it is also a duty of alumni to come forward and give back to their alma mater also.Devoting 2 hours in a quarter by going to college and sharing what industry is expecting, will definately help is decreasing the gap of skill shortage. Educating students about importance of soft skills is defn the need of the hour.
Because Remember, Outsourcing is not a friend of India. It will be friend of who so ever can provide cost advantage with skillled labour and we already have China,Ireland,Russia emerging as competitors.

To be of use
The people I love the bestjump into work head firstwithout dallying in the shallowsand swim off with sure strokes almost out of sight. They seem to become natives of that element, the black sleek heads of sealsbouncing like half submerged balls.
I love people who harness themselves, an ox to a heavy cart, who pull like water buffalo, with massive patience, who strain in the mud and the muck to move things forward, who do what has to be done, again and again.
I want to be with people who submergein the task, who go into the fields to harvest and work in a row and pass the bags along, who stand in the line and haul in their places, who are not parlor generals and field desertersbut move in a common rhythmwhen the food must come in or the fire be put out.
The work of the world is common as mud.Botched, it smears the hands, crumbles to dust. But the thing worth doing well donehas a shape that satisfies, clean and evident.Greek amphoras for wine or oil,Hopi vases that held corn, are put in museumsbut you know they were made to be used. The pitcher cries for water to carryand a person for work that is real.

Can Hyderabad take over Bangalore as IT Capital - Never!!
But as somebody from outside who has lived in both Bangalore and Hyderabad, I dnt see hyderabad ever taking Banaglore as IT capital.
Hyderbad will definately become as a IT hub since govt of AP is pro-IT and have skilled people.
There are certain issues which govt need to looked on urgent basis..cost of living.
There is huge demand- supply gap for housing in Hyderabad with rates soaring up by 300% in just 1 year .IT companies need people in bulk but can people afford to live in hyderabad at such high rents. I doubt, therefore they will relocate..companies HR watch out!!
Bangalore has enormous inflow but still finding a house is not a problem.
The climate of bangalore is still great, hyderabad..man I wonder what it will be in summers when weather s hot right nw in rainy season.
Inclination of people towards IT. Bangalore..its not inclination..its Craze for IT..i see people right from school dont want to be in IT for money..but from interest to develop that piece of software.
Infrastructure, It is appreciating that Naidu did a good job to provide good road connectivity to Hi-Tech city but Irony is that There is a severe Network problem of cellular services in HI-Tech City in hyderabad, so should they be still seeing it as Hi-Tech ;)
Bangalore has good QoS for cellular coverage and Electronics City in bangalore has no such problems.
Hyderabad, craze for IT is because of career ,money and US factor.
Hyderabad has major IT giants, but that is mainly because they want to expand beyond Bangalore and they got space here in the city. One will rarely find start-ups in here.
Bnagalore..you walk in any area and its rare that you won't see a bunch of geeks shop trying to make up something in software. Bangalore has that right enviroment for geek enterpeneurship
Hyderabad will be big destination for IT but Capital..only in Dreams.

CVNO
Interesting right..Atleast I found it so.
CVNO is one step up the value chain for MVNO.These operator buy bandwidth from carrier and resell to other operators or say consumer.
The reason for operator going virtual is outsourcing ..with vendors taking charge of operating the network.
Vendors are now driving the technology now with decising what to be implemented and what not to.
this game is always going to be confusing!!ummm

Test Ride: Aveo
After Optra they are here with Aveo in Chevorlot kitty.
The outer look and feel is good, with mid-segment touch.
The leg space is good both in front and rear and the dashboard is jazzy.
The inner holds a sporty look and interiors along with MP3 player and AC flaps looks attractive.
Now the ride:
I tested 1.4L LS variant and the pick up was good .I could not try 0-100 kmph due to rush hour time around 5 in delhi..Even though I was oon ring road,I cud do 0-80 and that took me around 10 secs. So 12 should be for 0-100.The cut is smooth and the needles are in straight line of drivers eye,so less of diversion while driving.
AC seemed effective and engine noise was almost absent.
The gear head is traditional one, they say GM provides like one though I didnt liked it,I did not found shifting of gears that smooth and here i remembered Maruti Swift which has far better gear than this US car.
The car overall can be rated as a good car though I would be finding myself little reluctant moving it to great category.
I would definately reccomend it to young people who are looking for combo of power and comfort in mid-segment. A good car to drive in city and they claim an average mileage of 14kmpl in city.Sounds good.
Now the price:
1.4L LS will cost you around 6.4L on road in delhi.
If you want to avail loan,I can even give you rough costing.
With a down payment of around 1.6L, it wil cost Rs.11500 as EMI for 5 years.
With the current costing and features ,it is a worth buy and it definately leaves its competitor like Ford Fiesta,Accent behind.
With GM stopping sales of Corsa in India ,Aveo sales looks optimistic. The near competitor is going be Verna ,which Hyundai is launching soon, depnds on the car.
Stock Market.. Anybody there??
I am an amateur looking for guidance to invest money in it.
Anybody listening????
now, talking biz...I can definately help people to invest inMutual funds since I have recently gain experience in fundamentals of MF and ave been investing for 2 years now and got good returns too..;)
MF are the safest and smartest way to invest and ge gains for our young generation who dont have time
Uttranchal....The foot of Himalayas
If one want to run away from scorching heat in capital,Rishikesh and nearby areas are the place to be.
My recent trip to rishikesh was definately an interesting one, with my mood being adventurous.
Reason, I had just booked myself a 3 day camp at rishkesh at bank of ganges.
The topsy curvy roadway takes about 40mins drive from haridwar to take you Shivpuri, where most of base camps are there.
Rafting is a great experience and jumping into flowing cold river is one thrilling experience..I was not feeling to come out...I m still feel the excitement thinking about it..
Then camping, bornfire and being little lucky like us to have landed on moonlite nite, the experience itself is great.
Morning beach volleyball was great though we lost the game by 3-2..
Kayaking again is fun though i found myself swiming in water seconds after i started, since i cudnt figuered out the funda of controlling it...and its funny but I was again swimming minutes after I tried seond time...LoL!!
The whole night dancing and leg pulling to some sleep riverside was gud.
Boozer Club people got more fun by getting their drinks and bottles chillied by making them immersed in cold flowing ganges water fr an hour..Now You got why Indian are so innovative or say JUDAG!!
Way back,we stopped at haridwar and a trip to Mansa devi by ropeway....
Ganga Aarti in evening in yet another show to watch.
Then ,next morning I found myself heading to hot plain of our saddi dilli....and believe me my ppleasant trip also ended like my current blog...
Indian Telecom MNCs
Heard about Indian MNCs in telecom..Don't be surprised,it will exist soon.
Bharti Global is going to start operations in Jersey ,Europe soon with plans to roll out network by October this year( source: CNBC-TV18)
This seems to be new page in history of Indian telecom. So far, Indian telecom market has been making news as fastest growing market and foreign operators lining up to get that cream here.
And now, with Indian operators expanding there network abroad ,Indian telecom is adding a new chapter again.
Recently, Sunil Mittal was in news with his remarks on FDI policy, where he expressed that management should be allowed to have foreign people on board like it is allowed in other countries like our Arun Sarin ,nw CEO of vodaphone.
Well, My point here is that telecom is a senstitive area in terms of security and with our motherland surrouned by enviuos and jealous enemy contry, govt is doing a good role by playing at its own terms in FDI.
Also, the primary interest of foreign operators is not governing the policies here of the market but to make money and that is why they are here. As for putting their stand and viewpoint for their benefit in market, they always have Indian representative to proposal ahead.
India, as a market is different from other countires, therefore this policy should also add on to the difference....For a change maybe!!!!!
With globalisation showing it signs in telecom too, I am sure Indian operators starting their operations across the world will definately change the rule of the game once more.
Mclaren: Where is the enthu this season
McLaren Fan like me are feeling low this season, with kimi missing the action this season.
Ferrari new engine this season has worked for the team.

Formula1: New Season Starts
But Malaysia was unfortunate for McLarens.A little hit of Raikkonnen got him out of race.
I think Kimi surely need to work more to stand a chance this year. They have come with new V8 engines car and I am sure Australia will be fun packed.
Renault, you people are a tough competition this year surely with Alonso is form like last year and so his car and team. Their 2 pit strategy worked well.
Ferrari new car is surely doing good along with their luck.Schumi looks to have made a comeback!!!

Telecom Infrastructure sharing for QoS
This will enhance quality of coverage for the consumer and effects can be seen starting from next month in April. There are few areas which out of coverage and they also can't help with it. This step will be starting first in Delhi and Mumbai to further implement in other cities.
Infrastructure sharing is an agreement among operators wherein they share network of each other thus increasing coverage and signal strength. This reduces cost and enhances the reach of coverage. This is a positive step for making consumer as the king. India is world's fastest growing market at 39% in Q4 2005 and has seen lowest tariff with an average ARPU of $10.China is also growing market but has better quality coverage.
With last mile being a challenge and focus shifting to B and C circles, infra sharing is only left option if operators want to avoid extra cost and thus increase their EBITDA.This comes with reduced OpEx.With population in village in low, infra sharing has been proposed there too for increasing the reach.

My experience at Andamans
At 7.30 I woke up hearing people talking about some beautiful views....moment I saw from window. my eyes got glued to the scene. One can see beaches and sea from top with thick covered forests.
I wish I could have clicked snaps but my cell was switched off. My first impression was very positive when I came out from plane and the runaway running straight towards sea.
We were attended by personnel from megapode nest which is best of places to stay at andamans. The drive took us 10 mins through curved roads. The morning has just begun at Andamans. Finally I landed up at Megapode and finally to 3 star Room. Sound of siren took me to the garden at back and I saw a Ship moving towards the land. I was told that the port is nearby and that one can see ships passing by very close.
My father's friend were courteous to attend us and took us in his santro, I came to know that people there have to pay 25K extra for the new car freight. But they are exempted from sales tax on all the items...education is free till 12th and they have a quota for admission to professional courses across mainland (thats what they call India)
Kala Pani...I was wondering for long time when we stopped in front of a national memorial. This is famous old Kala Pani...or the cellular jail. It is one more of Britshers excellent construction, on an island when and where finding resource was a difficult task. The light and sound show takes you around the history of the islands back t British times. Very well made and preserved memorial, it gives the idea the pain, which our great heroes and freedom fighter took.
Next day was for Coral islands...scuba diving was something which was defn very exciting. Going undersea was an amazing experience and seeing sea life live along with corals. Spend time eating lovely seafood and was damn tasty. Nearby Lighthouse caught our attention and I made it to top to get whole view of the island.
Havelock Island was our next day trip. Went on a 500 seater Ship and being first time, very exciting. I was there either on the top or the nose of the ship to feel sea breeze and water around for 4 hours. Resorts there are an experience and Man!! I saw crystal clear water and green beach for first time...The water was eye-catching with shaded of blue and green. We cud walk down 500 meters down the sea which was shallow till our knee height. With cool water pushing you around.
Spend evening at another beach, which had good waves to float around. Spent night there and pushed back for port Blair the next morning. Evening was enjoyed at our uncle’s house with tasty homely dinner.
The local market is small and there is nothing which 1 can buy or carry back (Mind you, taking corals from the island is illegal) 4th day morning, boarded flight for Chennai and afternoon when I landed at Chennai the lovely memories of that beautiful and quite islands still cherished my memories.
The place is highly recommended for all. a MUST visit and good for honeymoon couples where they can defn spent quality time with each other.

Budget 06
My expectation for telecom is making flat 6% tax on revenues as compared to variable tax structure in different domains
Second, excise duty on handsets to be further reduced to boost teledensity. It will also enhance related economies too.
As for vendor, definatety they will be happy to see differential tax rates abolished. There is no custom duty on import but constitute additional tax burden like excise.
Service Tax is definately a welcome but finance minister wil give a boost to growth if 10% + 2% edu cess can be ceased in telecom.
Railway Budget has come as happy news and same is expected for Finance Bill

Rang De Basanti...a generation awakens!!
The first half got my memories fresh of jaipur-delhi highway where I have been for long drive and zoomed and had fu with my gang..I also remember farm house parties during my school days in kanpur. The whole night partying with equal hard studies for our career.I felt like getting my car from back home and catch pune-mumbai xpressway with lovely music on on this movie.A R Rehman has once again shown his magic of music. All the numbers are awesome and Pathshaala surely rocks.
Soha Ali Khan has vry well portrayed Delhi girl.I like girls who are simple yet smart, with no make-up .As they say beauty lies in eyes of beholder,so why do girls try to put up that goddy make-up.
My second experience watching was equally good and I njyed watching the movie secong too, feeling the freshness which youth characters have filled movie with.
I personal stand for the issue is tht I would not hve taken step to kill someone, instead wwe youth should try to participate more in political affair. And very first step is
"We all should take oath that we will cast our vote each time...to start first"
I knw the answer is that "we didnt have name enrolled in the list"..and this is where we want our youth to be proactiv....try to be part f solution and not problem :-)
