Experience with Indigo

Recently,I flew from Hyderabad to Delhi with Indigo Airlines

Well, I really don't have anything special to write about Indigo.
I found it like yet another Low cost carrier. The only thing I will say that the aircraft are good.
As for service, they dont offer you anything except water and their seats are little cramp.

Check In and Handling is fine, in case you get a deal on ticket price, I think its worth going in for.

Overall, I will rate Indigo service as 6/10.

Nice Experience with Spicejet

Travelled on Spicejet third time till now, latest one from Delhi to hyderabad
With foggy conditions in Delhi, flights were getting delayed.
Fortunately on my travel day,sky remained clear with lots of sunshine so my flight was schduled right time. Confirmed with them and was happy to know that my flight was right time.
Spicejet Counter was crowded, but I would blame Airport authority for bad infrastructure. This lovely lady on the counter was handling the check -in quite smoothly so no Regrets ;)
This terminal of Spicejet is shared with Air-Deccan, so that made me stand in long queue for security check.
Coming to the point, my boarding was handled well and I felt cozy in confy seats of this A320 aircraft.I think spicejet has most lovely air-hostess of all low cost airlines. :)
The best part which I like while traveling with Spicejet is the cookies which they serve.I would say it has weightage of 5% for me choosing Spicejet.I can buy them from market , but it has own fun in Spicejet aircraft.
I even inquired from one of hostess Megha, where do they order it from.?The answer was Taj with a sweet smile, and "Would you like to have more of those?"She asked me about my seat number and she got me some of those wrapped nicely in napkins :)
Flight was confortable and got my luggage in time too at airport.
Overall, I will rate Spicjet 8/10 among the airlines.

86400- The connecting link between Money and Time

How is Time and Money connected together thorugh 86400??Thats a weird thought!!
True, but trust me there is something more interesting behind it which I learned today.
Patni's 'PACE' trainer Vaishnavi gave us a small assignment, If you have INR 86400,what
would you do with it?
Well, my answer too oriented towards investment, wherein my formula comprised of investing 40K in mutual funds,20K in stocks and remaining in Fixed deposit or maybe spend it.Most of participants shared same investment story, wherein they utilised all the given amount.
So, the observation was that all of us invested focusing on long term and short term basis.
But in real life, given the same precious amount in form of time, how many of us actually invest it in right way??? I bet not many..
In a given day, we have 24 x 60 x 60 = 86400 seconds.
So, if we can plan these preciuos units in right and planned way depending on our long term and short terms needs, most of our problem will be solved. If we can design ,say we are going to invest X amount of 'Time' in Y activity and than A amount in B activity, The result we will get will be great.
This was a real good learning which I got today and I will try my best to implement in day -to-day life from now on.

Time management is key to ones growth, and with pressure on work-life balance these little small tricks can make wonders

Patni PACE is oriented towards employee development wherein Patni tries to grow soft skills of Patnites and move each one of them towards excellence.
This was third such program which I attended, the other being on Business Communications and Decision Making.

India is a Medical Outsourcing Destination - Tom Peters

Outsourcing is all geared up to cover one more area and this time its Medical Outsourcing
Medical Toursim off late has been catching up fast in India with top hospitals like Apollo ,Fortis etc, partnering with Tourism co-ordinator and providing world class treatment clubbed with tour to Incredible India.
And with management guru and thinkrs like Tom Peters writing about it on his blog, this surely is something which can be labeled an upcoming trend. As Tom mentions, a poor lady from America who is not insured and cannot afford to get herself treated in US flies in to India and get herself world-class luxurious treatment at just 1/3rd the price.Indian doctors are renowed community in US so this can be surely lableled as safe
Increasing insurance cost in west and long waiting list for treatment at government hospitals in coutries like UK and US are factor which will be catalyst for Medical Outsourcing .Also, poor health conditions in countires like Africa,Middle east and even south east asia, India surely going to become a Medical Hub.This might see the same trend in future what IT witnessed in '90s
Looks like the word 'Bangalored' gonna see more addition to its meaning

Reliance launches its First Retail Store@ Hyderabad

Finally, the much awaited retail plan has started. Yes! I am talking about Reliance Retail Plan branded as Reliance 'Fresh'.
Indian retail sector is currently more than 90% under unorganised area and this shows the immense scope for growth. With increasing living style and spending power of Indians,Retail plans in India surely will see an exponential growth.
Reliance has laid huge plan for their retail biz and may even plan an IPO for that. They are starting with around 15 stores in Hyderabad from Nov3 and has plans to open around 5500 stores all across India. What makes Reliance strategy different from their competitors is that they are focussing at mid tier cities from the very beginning.Indian metor cities has already been witnessing mall/retail mania since past 2-3 years and Reliance just might take a different step seeing this.
I think going Reliance way makes sense.Since Tier 2-3 cities are virgin territories and if business house with muscle power like Reliance foray there first, they surely will cash 'First Movers Advantage'.
For their grand plan, Reliance has attracted leading names in this industry to join them, like Walmart India head, Pantaloons CEO with many other top people from big brands.
Reliance has previously made a huge change in telecom landscape when they launched Reliance Infocomm and now with their retial plans, I am sure Retail landscape in India and also the rules of the game.

The power of 9

Today I observed somethng wrt 9
9 is the only number when multipied by any number will give a number whose summation of digits also gives number 9
Ex: 9 X 3 = 27 ; 2 + 7 = 9 9 X 7 = 63 ; 6 + 3 = 9
Strange no!!

China keeping its fact right for IT- India Beware

As a daily habit of surfing through leading newspapers of the world,I was really surprised seeing China's optimistic view about IT While reading Shanghai Times(China's #1 business daily)It showed how well they are accepting the fact and also gearing up to beat their rival India.China is optimistic to beat India in next few years and there figures sounded realisitic and alarming.
Though we might be happy with Feel-Good factor with IT in India and IT and India almost pronounced simultaneosly, the number games are changing fast.
China has very well accepted that they are far behind India when it comes to software, but they know they are still leading in hardware by huge leap. Now,they have started executing their plans for training workforce in IT and English and as per Chinese Industry Association , they are really working fast.
Not only in terms of Education and training but also Infrastructure. It is a well known fact that China has by far better Infrastructure ,be it SEZs, Airports,Tech Parks or well planned cities.
Whereas, India still is lazying around and partying with success in IT. Infrastructure is deterioting day by day, specially at IT capital Bangalore. Signs of skill shortage has started showing signs with attritions touching 20% in many companies.
And its sad to see Govt focussing in stupid issues like reservations against improving education standards in schools and colleges.Although, engineering colleges are opening at a fast pace but how many of them actually give even average enginnering skills to students, I would say max 25-30%.
One good strategy which IT companies in India has started is expanding operations in China. We have TCS,Patni,Infosys,Satyam all opening shops in China. This will help these companies become truly global and at the same time cash on available talent pool and obviously huge Chinese market.
The need of the hour is to bridge the gap between industry and colleges. There is no point IT companies just crying about talent. It is time that industry come forward and partners with Enginneriung colleges in near by areas of cities to actually train students about what is expected from them. The benefit of such a program will be ,first availability of trained talent as per expectation right from campus thus saving huge recruitment cost and secondly increasing brand awareness of their company among the talent. We have few IT companies like Patni,Infosys and Satyam who have already started with such a model.Infosys has a large world class training centre, where they train new recruits depending on projects whereas Satyam and Patni has started tieing up with colleges to train students
I think it is also a duty of alumni to come forward and give back to their alma mater also.Devoting 2 hours in a quarter by going to college and sharing what industry is expecting, will definately help is decreasing the gap of skill shortage. Educating students about importance of soft skills is defn the need of the hour.
Because Remember, Outsourcing is not a friend of India. It will be friend of who so ever can provide cost advantage with skillled labour and we already have China,Ireland,Russia emerging as competitors.

Will sensex touch 13000 ??

Hi!!

With present bounce back and current level of sensex at 12450..will it touch 13000??

views are welcome!

To be of use by Marge Piercy

One nice poem by Marge Piercy :

To be of use

The people I love the bestjump into work head firstwithout dallying in the shallowsand swim off with sure strokes almost out of sight. They seem to become natives of that element, the black sleek heads of sealsbouncing like half submerged balls.

I love people who harness themselves, an ox to a heavy cart, who pull like water buffalo, with massive patience, who strain in the mud and the muck to move things forward, who do what has to be done, again and again.

I want to be with people who submergein the task, who go into the fields to harvest and work in a row and pass the bags along, who stand in the line and haul in their places, who are not parlor generals and field desertersbut move in a common rhythmwhen the food must come in or the fire be put out.

The work of the world is common as mud.Botched, it smears the hands, crumbles to dust. But the thing worth doing well donehas a shape that satisfies, clean and evident.Greek amphoras for wine or oil,Hopi vases that held corn, are put in museumsbut you know they were made to be used. The pitcher cries for water to carryand a person for work that is real.

Can Hyderabad take over Bangalore as IT Capital - Never!!

If you are orginally from Hyderabad , I know it will hurt.
But as somebody from outside who has lived in both Bangalore and Hyderabad, I dnt see hyderabad ever taking Banaglore as IT capital.
Hyderbad will definately become as a IT hub since govt of AP is pro-IT and have skilled people.

There are certain issues which govt need to looked on urgent basis..cost of living.
There is huge demand- supply gap for housing in Hyderabad with rates soaring up by 300% in just 1 year .IT companies need people in bulk but can people afford to live in hyderabad at such high rents. I doubt, therefore they will relocate..companies HR watch out!!
Bangalore has enormous inflow but still finding a house is not a problem.

The climate of bangalore is still great, hyderabad..man I wonder what it will be in summers when weather s hot right nw in rainy season.

Inclination of people towards IT. Bangalore..its not inclination..its Craze for IT..i see people right from school dont want to be in IT for money..but from interest to develop that piece of software.

Infrastructure, It is appreciating that Naidu did a good job to provide good road connectivity to Hi-Tech city but Irony is that There is a severe Network problem of cellular services in HI-Tech City in hyderabad, so should they be still seeing it as Hi-Tech ;)
Bangalore has good QoS for cellular coverage and Electronics City in bangalore has no such problems.

Hyderabad, craze for IT is because of career ,money and US factor.

Hyderabad has major IT giants, but that is mainly because they want to expand beyond Bangalore and they got space here in the city. One will rarely find start-ups in here.
Bnagalore..you walk in any area and its rare that you won't see a bunch of geeks shop trying to make up something in software. Bangalore has that right enviroment for geek enterpeneurship

Hyderabad will be big destination for IT but Capital..only in Dreams.

CVNO

CVNO is a Converged virtual netowork operator.
Interesting right..Atleast I found it so.

CVNO is one step up the value chain for MVNO.These operator buy bandwidth from carrier and resell to other operators or say consumer.
The reason for operator going virtual is outsourcing ..with vendors taking charge of operating the network.

Vendors are now driving the technology now with decising what to be implemented and what not to.

this game is always going to be confusing!!ummm

Test Ride: Aveo

GM back in biz!!

After Optra they are here with Aveo in Chevorlot kitty.

The outer look and feel is good, with mid-segment touch.

The leg space is good both in front and rear and the dashboard is jazzy.

The inner holds a sporty look and interiors along with MP3 player and AC flaps looks attractive.

Now the ride:
I tested 1.4L LS variant and the pick up was good .I could not try 0-100 kmph due to rush hour time around 5 in delhi..Even though I was oon ring road,I cud do 0-80 and that took me around 10 secs. So 12 should be for 0-100.The cut is smooth and the needles are in straight line of drivers eye,so less of diversion while driving.

AC seemed effective and engine noise was almost absent.

The gear head is traditional one, they say GM provides like one though I didnt liked it,I did not found shifting of gears that smooth and here i remembered Maruti Swift which has far better gear than this US car.
The car overall can be rated as a good car though I would be finding myself little reluctant moving it to great category.
I would definately reccomend it to young people who are looking for combo of power and comfort in mid-segment. A good car to drive in city and they claim an average mileage of 14kmpl in city.Sounds good.

Now the price:
1.4L LS will cost you around 6.4L on road in delhi.
If you want to avail loan,I can even give you rough costing.
With a down payment of around 1.6L, it wil cost Rs.11500 as EMI for 5 years.

With the current costing and features ,it is a worth buy and it definately leaves its competitor like Ford Fiesta,Accent behind.

With GM stopping sales of Corsa in India ,Aveo sales looks optimistic. The near competitor is going be Verna ,which Hyundai is launching soon, depnds on the car.

Stock Market.. Anybody there??

Well..that comment is not about Indian stock market but for myself.
I am an amateur looking for guidance to invest money in it.

Anybody listening????

now, talking biz...I can definately help people to invest inMutual funds since I have recently gain experience in fundamentals of MF and ave been investing for 2 years now and got good returns too..;)

MF are the safest and smartest way to invest and ge gains for our young generation who dont have time

Uttranchal....The foot of Himalayas

Uttranchal, UP hills as we all know them is beautiful valley in lap of river Ganges.

If one want to run away from scorching heat in capital,Rishikesh and nearby areas are the place to be.
My recent trip to rishikesh was definately an interesting one, with my mood being adventurous.
Reason, I had just booked myself a 3 day camp at rishkesh at bank of ganges.
The topsy curvy roadway takes about 40mins drive from haridwar to take you Shivpuri, where most of base camps are there.
Rafting is a great experience and jumping into flowing cold river is one thrilling experience..I was not feeling to come out...I m still feel the excitement thinking about it..
Then camping, bornfire and being little lucky like us to have landed on moonlite nite, the experience itself is great.
Morning beach volleyball was great though we lost the game by 3-2..

Kayaking again is fun though i found myself swiming in water seconds after i started, since i cudnt figuered out the funda of controlling it...and its funny but I was again swimming minutes after I tried seond time...LoL!!

The whole night dancing and leg pulling to some sleep riverside was gud.
Boozer Club people got more fun by getting their drinks and bottles chillied by making them immersed in cold flowing ganges water fr an hour..Now You got why Indian are so innovative or say JUDAG!!

Way back,we stopped at haridwar and a trip to Mansa devi by ropeway....
Ganga Aarti in evening in yet another show to watch.

Then ,next morning I found myself heading to hot plain of our saddi dilli....and believe me my ppleasant trip also ended like my current blog...

Indian Telecom MNCs

Heard about Indian IT MNCs....well anybody can tell atleast two, TCS and Infosys.

Heard about Indian MNCs in telecom..Don't be surprised,it will exist soon.

Bharti Global is going to start operations in Jersey ,Europe soon with plans to roll out network by October this year( source: CNBC-TV18)

This seems to be new page in history of Indian telecom. So far, Indian telecom market has been making news as fastest growing market and foreign operators lining up to get that cream here.
And now, with Indian operators expanding there network abroad ,Indian telecom is adding a new chapter again.
Recently, Sunil Mittal was in news with his remarks on FDI policy, where he expressed that management should be allowed to have foreign people on board like it is allowed in other countries like our Arun Sarin ,nw CEO of vodaphone.
Well, My point here is that telecom is a senstitive area in terms of security and with our motherland surrouned by enviuos and jealous enemy contry, govt is doing a good role by playing at its own terms in FDI.
Also, the primary interest of foreign operators is not governing the policies here of the market but to make money and that is why they are here. As for putting their stand and viewpoint for their benefit in market, they always have Indian representative to proposal ahead.
India, as a market is different from other countires, therefore this policy should also add on to the difference....For a change maybe!!!!!
With globalisation showing it signs in telecom too, I am sure Indian operators starting their operations across the world will definately change the rule of the game once more.

Mclaren: Where is the enthu this season

Disappointed...YES!!
McLaren Fan like me are feeling low this season, with kimi missing the action this season.

Ferrari new engine this season has worked for the team.

Schumi seems to be catching up this time..Lets see if our dude Alonso takes away the lead thi season too

Formula1: New Season Starts

Bahrain saw 2006 first formula1 race. Qualifying was disappointing for McLaren but still they could gain place at podium finishing third from 22nd position.
But Malaysia was unfortunate for McLarens.A little hit of Raikkonnen got him out of race.
I think Kimi surely need to work more to stand a chance this year. They have come with new V8 engines car and I am sure Australia will be fun packed.

Renault, you people are a tough competition this year surely with Alonso is form like last year and so his car and team. Their 2 pit strategy worked well.

Ferrari new car is surely doing good along with their luck.Schumi looks to have made a comeback!!!

Telecom Infrastructure sharing for QoS

Finally TRAI has been successful to catch operators by their ears. Declining Quality of service has got operators together to share infrastructure. As compared to previously 30% sharing, operators will now share 70% of their infrasturcture. With existing infra, they will go for revenue sharing and new deployment will see operators chipping in investment.

This will enhance quality of coverage for the consumer and effects can be seen starting from next month in April. There are few areas which out of coverage and they also can't help with it. This step will be starting first in Delhi and Mumbai to further implement in other cities.

Infrastructure sharing is an agreement among operators wherein they share network of each other thus increasing coverage and signal strength. This reduces cost and enhances the reach of coverage. This is a positive step for making consumer as the king. India is world's fastest growing market at 39% in Q4 2005 and has seen lowest tariff with an average ARPU of $10.China is also growing market but has better quality coverage.

With last mile being a challenge and focus shifting to B and C circles, infra sharing is only left option if operators want to avoid extra cost and thus increase their EBITDA.This comes with reduced OpEx.With population in village in low, infra sharing has been proposed there too for increasing the reach.

My experience at Andamans

Catching early morning flight from Chennai was rush for me. Though I was lucky to catch it on time. I was very excited for this journey but my half sleep forced me to take a small nap.

At 7.30 I woke up hearing people talking about some beautiful views....moment I saw from window. my eyes got glued to the scene. One can see beaches and sea from top with thick covered forests.

I wish I could have clicked snaps but my cell was switched off. My first impression was very positive when I came out from plane and the runaway running straight towards sea.

We were attended by personnel from megapode nest which is best of places to stay at andamans. The drive took us 10 mins through curved roads. The morning has just begun at Andamans. Finally I landed up at Megapode and finally to 3 star Room. Sound of siren took me to the garden at back and I saw a Ship moving towards the land. I was told that the port is nearby and that one can see ships passing by very close.

My father's friend were courteous to attend us and took us in his santro, I came to know that people there have to pay 25K extra for the new car freight. But they are exempted from sales tax on all the items...education is free till 12th and they have a quota for admission to professional courses across mainland (thats what they call India)

Kala Pani...I was wondering for long time when we stopped in front of a national memorial. This is famous old Kala Pani...or the cellular jail. It is one more of Britshers excellent construction, on an island when and where finding resource was a difficult task. The light and sound show takes you around the history of the islands back t British times. Very well made and preserved memorial, it gives the idea the pain, which our great heroes and freedom fighter took.

Next day was for Coral islands...scuba diving was something which was defn very exciting. Going undersea was an amazing experience and seeing sea life live along with corals. Spend time eating lovely seafood and was damn tasty. Nearby Lighthouse caught our attention and I made it to top to get whole view of the island.

Havelock Island was our next day trip. Went on a 500 seater Ship and being first time, very exciting. I was there either on the top or the nose of the ship to feel sea breeze and water around for 4 hours. Resorts there are an experience and Man!! I saw crystal clear water and green beach for first time...The water was eye-catching with shaded of blue and green. We cud walk down 500 meters down the sea which was shallow till our knee height. With cool water pushing you around.

Spend evening at another beach, which had good waves to float around. Spent night there and pushed back for port Blair the next morning. Evening was enjoyed at our uncle’s house with tasty homely dinner.
The local market is small and there is nothing which 1 can buy or carry back (Mind you, taking corals from the island is illegal) 4th day morning, boarded flight for Chennai and afternoon when I landed at Chennai the lovely memories of that beautiful and quite islands still cherished my memories.

The place is highly recommended for all. a MUST visit and good for honeymoon couples where they can defn spent quality time with each other.

Budget 06

Time clicking and Budget'06 on its way for 28th feb.
My expectation for telecom is making flat 6% tax on revenues as compared to variable tax structure in different domains
Second, excise duty on handsets to be further reduced to boost teledensity. It will also enhance related economies too.

As for vendor, definatety they will be happy to see differential tax rates abolished. There is no custom duty on import but constitute additional tax burden like excise.

Service Tax is definately a welcome but finance minister wil give a boost to growth if 10% + 2% edu cess can be ceased in telecom.

Railway Budget has come as happy news and same is expected for Finance Bill

Rang De Basanti...a generation awakens!!

Rang De Basanti...a generation awakens!!Yes the movie speaks too the same, with story revolving around 5 young DU students who realises that the freedom for which our freedom fighters laid their life is again becoming like slavery..this time to corruption.
The first half got my memories fresh of jaipur-delhi highway where I have been for long drive and zoomed and had fu with my gang..I also remember farm house parties during my school days in kanpur. The whole night partying with equal hard studies for our career.I felt like getting my car from back home and catch pune-mumbai xpressway with lovely music on on this movie.A R Rehman has once again shown his magic of music. All the numbers are awesome and Pathshaala surely rocks.
Soha Ali Khan has vry well portrayed Delhi girl.I like girls who are simple yet smart, with no make-up .As they say beauty lies in eyes of beholder,so why do girls try to put up that goddy make-up.
My second experience watching was equally good and I njyed watching the movie secong too, feeling the freshness which youth characters have filled movie with.
I personal stand for the issue is tht I would not hve taken step to kill someone, instead wwe youth should try to participate more in political affair. And very first step is
"We all should take oath that we will cast our vote each time...to start first"
I knw the answer is that "we didnt have name enrolled in the list"..and this is where we want our youth to be proactiv....try to be part f solution and not problem :-)
